Cactus Construction

Commercial Construction with Creative Vision

overview

Cactus Construction is a flexible commercial developer in Oklahoma, capable of handling almost any project — from retail centers to medical complexes and industrial buildings. Known as a trustworthy, hands-on partner from the earliest planning stages (even before you hire an architect) through project completion, Cactus had outgrown their original brand name and identity. They were expanding into Texas and needed a brand that could help them win state and federal bids — bold and confident enough to match the caliber of the work they deliver.

TIME FOR A NAME CHANGE

During our Brand Roadmap phase, we looked at how Cactus helps people, what makes their brand unique, and how they stand apart in a crowded commercial construction market. Their former name wasn’t serving them anymore — they needed a bold, energetic identity that actually conveyed their personality, with the experience of working with Cactus coming through in the branding, website, and marketing.

FROM TURNKEY TO CACTUS

The Turnkey Construction name had served the company well, but it didn’t say anything distinct in a crowded commercial construction market. We built Cactus around a name and identity that could actually be owned — resilient, warm, and built to stand out on a job site, a business card, or a billboard.

BRAND MARKS & PATTERNS

Like the cactus itself, the brand is built to endure—resilient and quietly confident, while still standing out with unexpected character and warmth. That’s the tone: striking work, delivered without pretense.

COLORS & TYPOGRAPHY

The palette draws its warmth and earthiness from the cactus itself — a plant known for thriving where others struggle, translated through an elevated lens rather than a literal landscape reference. Succulent, a muted olive-green, echoes the plant’s own coloring — organic and grounded rather than corporate. Sand keeps the palette light and airy, while Gilded Sun and Dusty Red bring in warmth and richness without leaning into cliché. Licorice adds depth and sophistication, letting the gold logo mark catch the eye like light on a cactus spine, Slate offers a quiet, neutral balance, and Lapiz rounds it out as a clear, confident blue against all that warm terrain.

The type system carries that same balance. Albert Sans Semibold brings a clean, structured geometry to subheadings, buttons, and navigation — set in all caps, it reads sharp and confident, like a team that knows exactly what it’s doing. Cantarell carries the rest of the voice: warmer and more humanist, with open letterforms that feel approachable rather than stiff. Used large for headings and pull quotes, it gives the brand its visionary moment — bold and a little unexpected. Together, the palette and type system mirror the cactus itself: structured and resilient on the surface, with something warmer and more welcoming underneath.

Results

The rebrand gave Cactus Construction an identity built to support real growth, not just a fresh look. Since launch, the company’s team has tripled — a name and brand more people want to be part of. The new site has also become an active recruiting tool, drawing talent to their open roles across Oklahoma and Texas.

With a cohesive identity in place, marketing materials come together faster, and new hires understand the brand’s tone and values from day one — the brand now does some of the onboarding work on its own.
