Vegas Tuffest Jr World Championship
Created an e-commerce system to get this rodeo online for 2022
In 2021, the leadership team behind the Vegas Tuffest Jr. World Championship approached us to move their annual national children’s rodeo to an online registration and payment system. This meant creating a customized checkout system to accommodate booking adults, children, horses, and all in a short time window and on a non-profit budget.

The team at Vegas Tuffest needed to take a huge, intricate system of sign-up, registration confirmations, payment, cancelation, and on-site event management for a rodeo and move the entire thing online. The task was to do this smoothly, since it involved juggling children and horses, amongst other things. The approached us with a tight 4 month timeline to get the project live before registration for the annual rodeo would start.
Working closely with the internal team of four at the Vegas Tuffest headquarters, we conducted discovery and strategy meetings to understand the needs of the project. Once we had a firm grasp on how their current paper system was working, we understood how to create an architecture to move it online.
An important part of our engagement with Vegas Tuffest was helping them navigate choices on technology. What would be the most economical choice long term for accepting payments and giving refunds? What types of payment systems would their specific customer base feel comfortable using? We analyzed who would actually be using the system and make recommendations specific to their needs.
To develop the system, we made technology decisions that would future-proof the application for long-term use. This meant building the app in a way that was easy to archive and includes new data in the years to come.
We completed the online system in just under 3 months. This was a record, even for us, for turning out such a high-end checkout product on budget and within our timeline.
The rodeo was able to accept signups, and the team is able to see the pdfs delivered of the entry packets. The Vegas Tuffest team is also using us for continued maintenance and support on their WordPress application.
In addition to planning the architecture for the back-end development, we also heavily customized functionality plugins for member management and custom forms. This led to an end product that is reusable year-after-year and a solid technology investment.
